The ability to work in a culturally diverseenvironment within a team and to provide public health serviceswithin the community; including Spanish fluency, phlebotomy, andoffice duties.Specific Duties &ResponsibilitiesSchedule latent tuberculosis (TB) patients, contactsto active TB cases and /or B-waivers (immigrants, refugees, andasylum seekers) for laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medicalexaminations. Relay information to patients regarding preparationfor laboratory tests and examinations. Coordinate visits eitherwithin the department or between several departments, to includeTB/HIV/STD.Telephone andinterview patients and/or family members to obtain accuratepre-registration information and to confirm appointments. Verifyand enter pre-registration and insurance information into thecomputer system and prepare daily printed schedules for the latentTB clinic. Fulfill HIPAAcompliant ingoing and outgoing medical records requests. Manageincoming and outgoing faxes. Provide accurate appointment check-inand check-out.Cross train with theactive TB Medical Office Assistant (MOA) for aid in coverage of theentire program.Conducts contactinvestigations in the field or in site visits within the community,with the assistance of the TBnurses.Perform phlebotomyand/or injections either in the office or in the field. These teststo include purified protein derivative (PPD) testing and/orQuantiFERON (QFT+) testing, HIV testing, syphilis testing, sputumcollection, urine tests, point of care testing (POCT) forpregnancy, routine labs and perform electrocardiogram (EKG) tests.Communicate findings to the TB prevention nurse who will overseethe TB prevention program and communicate any programmatic issuesto the TB programcoordinator.Collect data frompatients regarding their medical history, obtain vital signs,weight, and height.Display responsiblebehaviors, communicate effectively to others and function as amember of the healthcare team. Function under the directsupervision and report to the TB program coordinator, who isresponsible for administrative supervision, staff development, andorientation of the PSC/MA to the area’s policies and procedures.Demonstrate fluency in Spanish and competency in all skills relatedto the performance of patientcare.Maintain an inventoryof examination/procedure room supplies.
