In partnership with the Town of Vestal Recreation, the library started Book Scavenger at the Park. Lake also mentioned the scavenger hunt is open to anyone — not just Vestal residents. Each week the library hides cards with a photo of a book cover at different Vestal parks like the Vestal Center Park. VESTAL (WBNG) — The Vestal Public Library is doing their part to promote literacy and get kids active during the pandemic. Anna Lake, youth services librarian, says this scavenger helps students get out of their house and get some fresh air. The scavenger hunt is open for ages two through 12. When a child finds a card they can take it to the library and receive a free copy of that book. “It promotes literacy, as well,” Lake said. “It does get them into the library but not all at once which is the safest for the paterons and our staff.” Only one book is available per child each week.
