Commonwealth Games Organising Committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi.The probe into allegations of corruption in the Commonwealth Games (CWG) is gathering steam with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) taking away files of the Organising Committee and the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) beginning the final audit of the Games. The CBI is probing a money trail of Rs 1.8 crore paid by the Organising Committee to the previously unknown AM Films and AM Cars for logistical support during the Queen’s Baton Rally in London. Meanwhile, the CAG has begun its final audit of the Games. The report is expected by December-end. The CAG plans to table the final report in Parliament during winter session. In another development, the Group of Ministers that met on Monday extended the tenure of senior officers of the Organising Committee to facilitate the probe into corruption charges. The extension of tenure will ensure proper documentation of the purchases and payments made by the Organising Committee.
